Join My Hostess Club!

Yes, I am aware that I need to change my header! I will be spending a little time on my blog this weekend. Right now...I barely have time to breath! But, I do have a quick moment to introduce my very first Hostess Club! What a great way to build up your stamp stuff without breaking the bank (or breaking into one!) or having to explain to your hubby why you absolutely needed to spend "How much?" on ink, paper and wood blocks!! I must give credit to Stamping Granny for this idea. I am sure there are lots of demonstrators out there who do this but Stamping Granny was the only one I stumbled on that explained how it works. Then I wondered why I didn't come up with it on my own! Brilliant!

If you are interested, here are the details:

There will be 6 members in the club. Each Member will commit to a minimum merchandise order of $25.00 each month for 6 months (to June 2010). With shipping and tax (in California) this comes out to approximately $35.00 per month.

Once there are 6 Members, each Member will be assigned a month in which they are the Hostess, to be decided randomly (out of a hat!). Once this is done, each Member will be notified of their month.

All Orders will need to be submitted to me by the 15th of each month. Each Member order will be combined so that the Member Hostess of that month will receive Stampin’ Up!’s Hostess Benefits, which includes at least $15.00 in FREE Product and 1 FREE Level 1 Hostess Stamp Set. This Club is not good for any on-line orders through my Demonstrator Website. To qualify for this Hostess Club they must be placed directly through me. [Unfortunately, at this time I do not have Pay Pal, but I can take Credit Cards and Checks. For more details on this, we can discuss it once you join the club.]

There is no limit either…you can get “outside orders” for your month to boost your Hostess Benefits. With 6 Members you are guaranteed a workshop order of $150.00 but you could easily go above that depending on any outside orders you receive!

As a Member of this Hostess Club you will receive a FREE current Catalog & Idea Book and any Mini Catalogs that are released during the club period. Also, during your Hostess Month, you will also receive an extra little something from me with your order as a big “Thank You!”

What do you think? Wanna join? E-mail me at kellysue@roadrunner.com.

Thanksgiving Thanks!

It has been a really long time since I've made anything! I have been playing around with stuff but just no time to actually create! We went to our niece's for Thanksgiving yesterday and I was itching to make something, so this is the Thank You card I made. Considering I am not usually one to distress anything (I am a type "A" personality so to "distress" something is a little, well...distressing to me!) It took everything I had to crumple up that nice, smooth Very Vanilla cardstock! But I think the end result is very rustic and Fall-like even though our weather here is more like summer! Everything is Stampin Up! except the leaf. I used Old Olive cardstock for the base and Soft Suede cardstock behind the Very Vanilla cardstock which I ran thru my Big Shot using the Top Note die. I sponged the Very Vanilla CS with Soft Suede and Crushed Curry ink before I crumpled it quite a few times! Then I sponged it a little more! I also used my Color Spritzer tool with my Soft Suede marker for the little dots! I finished off my card with Old Olive grosgrain ribbon and linen thread. I have to tell you, I think the Big Shot is the best thing ever! I absolutely love it! Thanks for looking!

I have lots of good excuses!!

Yikes! I can't believe it has been a month since I last posted. Well, I have had a few things going on! For one, I am a new grandmother - again! That is very exciting! Another girl! She is so tiny! I have also been busy sort of playing with My Digital Studio and getting my certification. Well, I just finished that and here is my very first project!

Well, what do you think? I think it's very cute! Of course, the one I sent to the printer is wrong, which is why you should always check your project! Check it again, then check it again! Oh, and also check your facts! Ha! The one sent to the printer has Gianna weighing in slightly less. And you know I didn't just order one! Since I have now mastered (sort of) My Digital Studio (MDS) I plan on updating my blog and header and doing all sorts of stuff! MDS is not just digital scrapbooking-it is a digital paper crafting solution! And its fun! Click here to order your own copy of MDS.

I'm still here!

I have been sooooo busy at work....lots of changes going on, that when I get home, I am exhausted. Hardly any time for Facebook and no time for stampin!! I just realized that my last post was in JULY!!! That is really sad. Well, I am headed for a much needed and well deserved vacation soon and I will be rejuvinated and ready to focus on my Stampin' Up! world again. I miss it! Now, where is my catalog? I need to place an order I think. Tomorrow!

July 24, 2009

Hello!

You see, I am terrible about posting consistently! I have already missed posting one Deal of the Week and about ready to miss another! And I see my counter has actually passed the 1000 mark and I didn't even realize it! That's what happens when my "real job" takes over my life and consumes me so much I have absolutely no energy or will to do anything else! Hmmph! I did manage to make a birthday card for one of the attorneys I work for. I wasn't quite sure how I was going to come up with a masculine card at the last minute, though. On my way home from work, I was running all sorts of ideas through my head and had one sort of worked out. Of course, when I sat down to actually make the card, it wasn't doing it for me-it was actually starting to look like the American flag and I didn't want that Then I remembered he loves the Boston Red Sox and the card just grew from there. It was kind of fun to make everything myself since I don't have any sport stamps.
I used Riding Hood Red cardstock as the base (because I still have tons of it!); Whisper White and topped it with Not Quite Navy. As you can see, I actually used my sewing machine for this one! I clipped the corners of the Not Quite Navy with my Ticket punch (doesn't that kind of remind you of the baseball field-that was an accident!). I made the "baseball" using my Big Shot and the Circles die. I stamped the "Original" by using my Basic Black marker and coloring just the word on the stamp from "Art by Design" and the little stars next to it are from the Just for You stamp from "Oval All." Of course, lining everything up was a breeze using my Stampa-ma-jig! Finally, the Happy Birthday is from the retired set "Birthday Whimsy." The ribbon and the little punched out stars are non-SU! Thanks for looking! (Still not on Etsy but soon on Facebook!)

Top Note Address Book

This little project I was working on is for Vicki, my co-worker who is moving back to AZ. We have all become quite attached to Vicki as she is truly one of a kind so, needless to say, we will miss her. I decided that I would give her a going away present that would assure no excuses for her not keeping in touch or forgetting birthdays!

I confess that not everything is Stampin' Up! but the Bazzil Basics papers I used were near dead-ringers for the new In Colors, Melon Mambo, Bermuda Bay, and Dusty Durango, so I did use those ink colors, as well as Soft Suede (the new In Colors can be found on pg. 155 of the new 2009-2010 Idea Book & Catalog). I also used a pack of double-sided Carolyn Gavin designer paper from K & Company along with the coordinating rub-ons and colored rhinestones.

I had about a thousand blank index cards I had no idea what I was going to use them for. But I am so brilliant!! I printed out the "Name, address, etc." stuff on them and ran them through the Big Shot (pg. 194) using the Top Note die (pg. 198). I made the front and back covers with chip board and textured cardstock and used the K&Co. double-sided paper for the alphabet dividers, all using the Top Note die. I used the "Defining Alphabet" stamp set, as well as "Define Your Life" set (both found on pg. 150). For the little tabs on the dividers, I used clear window sheets (pg.158), also run through my Big Shot, using the Circles #2 die (pg. 202). I then put little alphabet rub-ons on each clear circle and attached them to the dividers. I love it!! Tell me what you think! (I apologize for the poor picture quality. I didn't have any daylight left to photograph outside because as usual, I waited until the very last minute to finish!) TFL!

Just Random Thoughts...

So, I am contemplating the whole "Facebook" thing. I have resisted until now because its quite simple to carry on my life without having to worry about being exposed to the whole wide world!! But everyone keeps asking me to join (yes, I would probably jump off the bridge, too!) And I am already out there through this blog, not that anyone I know really visits (sad, huh?) And there is a sort of voyeuristic thrill to getting joined up and being able to check other people out!! You know what I mean? But I have discovered that despite eveything, I am still a little vain! I do care what other people think and I really shouldn't! I am no longer 105 lbs! OMG!! And logically, I know other people aren't either! And probably, no one cares! But I don't like it! But I haven't done a damn thing about it! So, whose fault is it? Anyway, I know there are some of you out there that know exactly what I am talking about! Thank you for indulging me! Now, I have to find my daughter to help set up my profile. Stay tuned ;)

It's back! Wedding Flowers & Memories

Here is the beautiful paper flower bouquet that I originally posted a few weeks ago. Since today is the big day, I figured it was safe to put the photo back up. I absolutely loved doing this project! It is the perfect way to share your special day with someone who may no longer be with you. In this case, the bride's mother is deceased and this bouquet has photos of her mother and will be placed on the wedding party table at the reception. So, her mother is able to attend her wedding. Beautiful, don't you think?

Sunflower Wedding Card

My hairdresser, Jen, is getting married tomorrow and her theme is black & white and her flowers are sunflowers. When she showed me a picture of her cake, I came up with the idea for this card. I think it is one of my absolute favorites so far! (I think I say that with each new card I make!) Anyway, her cake is white with big, black polka dots. I used my circle punches and I ran the Flower Daisies #2 die through my Big Shot. The papers are Summer Sun, Basic Black (textured) and Whisper White. The stamp set is "Congrats" from SAB 2009 and unfortunately its retired. Dont'cha just love it?

We are giving her a gift card, so here's the inside.

Look for me soon on Etsy!

Wedding Flowers & Memories

I got to thinking that...this world, despite its size, is actually quite small. I don't want to ruin the surprise for the bride who is not getting married until 6/27 and she doesn't know about this gift. Even though very few people at this point read my humble little blog, it is actually quite possible SOMEBODY will recognize the pictures in this bouquet. So, I am removing the picture until 6/27/09 so I don't ruin the present. Check back then and I will re-post it. Thanks for understanding! I was just so excited to share, I forgot it's a surprise...duh!

This is what I have been busy doing (well, besides working!) My friend Mickey, the one I made this paper bouquet for, wanted me to make a paper bouquet for her niece who is getting married this month. She thought it would be a great way to have her niece's mother, who's deceased, at her wedding. I absolutely love the way this turned out! The picture just does not do it justice! It is so pretty! There are just a few pictures of her mother, so not all the flowers are covered in pictures. I think it is such a great idea! I hope she likes it! I used my Big Shot of course, and the Flower Layers #3 die and Flower Daisies #2 die.

I'm scrapbooking!

I have just not been feeling very creative in a while and I was getting a little depressed and disappointed in myself. I got to thinking about when I was scrapbooking and my pages were pretty good! At least I thought so! Anyway, I needed to boost my ego a bit so I started flipping through my albums and I decided that maybe if I scrapped, I would get inspired. Now, I haven't scrapped in for-ev-ah! (At least 3 years! OMG!!) I decided this weekend I was going to do it. I had 3 (almost brand new) Creative Memories album coverlets to fill (plus 1 black one with a picture thing on the cover I bought to put my wedding pics in) and since CM finally changed their albums to a true 12 x 12, I needed to figure out how many packs of pages I was going to have to buy before they retired them. Well, I just wanted to scrap! So, I put 3 of my old albums into the new ones and I am saving the old ones in case I need to re-arrange the other 3 old ones I have. Problem solved. Now, I don't have to buy any more "old" pages and I can use the ones I have to finally do my Wedding Album! I started it yesterday and I am so excited because I am almost finished! It might take me the rest of the week though because I do have to work! Ugh! It is going fairly smooth because I am sticking with a theme. The hardest part is picking the pictures! Actually, the hardest part is looking at these 16 year old pictures and realizing I don't look the same!! I will post pictures soon!! Here's a sneak peak - our "unconventional Wedding" Portrait! Thanks for listening!

Baby Boy Card!

I think that I made a pretty good baby card considering I am seriously lacking baby/kids stamps! I started with a Bashful Blue base and added So Saffron, Delicate Dots DSP from SAB and Summer Picnic DSP, and of course the So Saffron Grosgrain ribbon from SAB. I used my Big Shot and the Scallop Circles #2 die. I used my Bashful Blue and Certainly Celery markers to stamp the cute little sailboat from "Life's a Breeze" on Whisper White CS and stamped it again and cut the boat and sail out and popped those puppies right up using my dimensionals! The sentiment is from the "Best Yet" hostess set (retired). I think its adorable, if I do say so myself! I made it for my neighbor (and newly addicted stamper) for her baby shower. I hope she liked it! I must say, that I am so proud of her! She made her shower treats based on the project we did in our March class! They were adorable! I would share a picture but it was chocolate and it didn't last long enough to photograph! TFL!!

Tres Chic! MOJO85!

I managed to finish this week's MOJO 85. I skipped a couple of weeks, so it feels good to have finally completed something! I thinks its very pretty and feminine. What do you think?
I started with Kraft CS as a base and mounted Parisian Breeze DSP on top. I love it! I used Baja Breeze CS for the backgorund and Whisper White CS for the images. Using my Chocolate Chip marker and my blender pen with Baja Breeze CSP to "ink" my images so I would have the two colors. I used the Friends 24-7 stamp set from the Spring -Summer 09 IBC and the Great Friend Set from the Mini Occassions catalog. I finished off my card with Baja Breeze satin ribbon from Ribbon Originals-Valet. Tres Chic, oui!! Thanks for looking!

I know, It's Been Awhile!

Yes, it has been a few weeks - I have been busy and lazy and everything in between! I didn't get to MOJO82 but I am hoping to get to MOJO83. I did manage to finish this card which is a total CASE from Mary Fish. I love her stuff and when I saw her card I thought it was great!! But when I decided to do my own version I got stumped and it took me a few days to get it together. It seems I can't stay away from the monochromatic look! I think right now that's mainly because I don't have a vast supply of DSP so I had to work with what I had. Then, I could not figure out the scale she used. As you can see, I only have 2 daisies and she has 3. She must have used the littlest daisy for her card. In any case, (no pun intended!) I finally managed to finish the B-day card for my friend, Mickey.
Ingredients:
Whisper White CS, So Saffron CS, a tiny sliver of Chocolate Chip CS for the "thread" (another "tip" I learned from Mary Fish- I just love her!) Chocolate Chip CSP, Walk in the Park DSP, and Delicate Dots DSP (from SAB), wide oval punch and So Saffron striped grosgrain ribbon! Oh, yeah, the sentiment is from the CHit Chat rub-ons! TFL!!

April 12, 2009

MOJO81 I made it!!!

Yay! I actually finished in time to post before Mr. Linky closes! I am not sure if I absolutely love this card, but I am happy I used glitter! The glitter and the little dew drops are not SU! I just happened to have that stuff around. Thank goodness because I was having a heck of a time trying to come up with something to do for this challenge. I almost gave up-but alas, I did not! TFL!

Ingredients: Chocolate Chip CS and CSP and grosgrain ribbon, Kiwi Kiss CS, Very Vanilla CS, Fifth Avenue Floral Stamp set and Great Friend stamp set.

Purple Flower Bouquet

This is one of my favorites so far!! I made this for my co-worker, Mickey, who I thought might not be allowed real flowers in the hospital. I took pictures of everyone from the office and printed them small enough to punch out for the center of the flowers. I then camoflauged one of those recorder things that you put in scrapbooks or cards - I don't know what they are called! I recorded a snippet of a song by Gunther (if you don't know who Gunther is, you can check him out here!) Gunther is sort of an inside joke at work with Mickey, and the song is "The Ding Dong Song!" Sometimes, we have too much fun at work!! Needless to say, she loved it! Our thoughts and prayers are with you Mickey! We love you! I used mostly SU! stuff, Orchid Opulance and Lovely Lilac cardstock and classic ink, my Big Shot, and Flowers #3 die. TFL!

I missed it again!! MOJO80

Well, I seem to have missed the Sunday 8 pm deadline for Mr. Linky, but I can still post it here and on SCS! Here is my Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge. I think it's kinda cool in a dark sort of way. It looks like a black and white picture. What do you think?

Ingredients:
Basic Grey CS, Basic Blcak CS and Whisper White CS, Basic Grey Classic ink, Walk in the Park DSP, Valet Ribbon originals, scallop circle puch, rhinestone brads, and the Great Friend stamp set from the Occasions Mini Catalog.

April 2, 2009

So Soft, So Saffron!

I was just playing around with my new stuff, with no real purpose and I came up with this. Plain and simple but I kind of like it. Even my dear husband liked it! I try to challenge myself to create something without CASE'ing and when I do it looks like this-kind of plain! I think I might stick to the challenges I find on-line, like at SCS!

Ingredients:
So Saffron CS, Whipser White CS, Walk in the Park DSP, So Saffron Classic ink pad, Chit Chat rub-on, So Saffron grosgrain ribbon from SAB, and an antique brass mini Library Clip.
Thanks for looking!

April 1, 2009

MOJO Monday 79 Sketch

Okay...so I am only a week and a half late! At least I did it! I actually finished it Sunday night but it was after 8pm and Mister Linky was already closed! Whadda ya think! I thought it turned out pretty. I was very anxious to play with my Walk in the Park DSP and my Big Shot (I just got it so I want to play, play play! Unfortunately, I have to work, so I don't get to play as much as I want!)

Ingredients:
Basic Grey CS and ink; Whisper White CS and Cameo Coral CS, Walk in the Park DSP, SU! Little Leaves Sizzlet die, Boho Blossoms punch, SU! Ribbon Originals Valet. The sentiment (yes, I know, "what sentiment?") is from the Great Friend stamp set from the new Occassions Mini Catalog just released today! (That's no foolin'!)

SAB Class Projects

It was about 1 a.m. Sunday morning when I finally finished my samples for my Sunday afternoon class! I have a tendency to procrastinate when I have absolutely no idea what I want to do. So, of course I was on SCS for awhile looking for inspiration and because there are so many talented and creative ladies out there, I found some! Yay! So, I hope they don't mind, but I absolutely CASE'd these projects. Thanks, ladies! (If you do mind, I apologize.) I wanted to be sure to use all Sale-a-Bration products since it is the last week. The Kit Kat bar was the favorite among my girls and they are very excited to use this project in other ways. Thanks to Lisa Freeman for her idea! The inspiration for the card also came from Lisa here. Thank you, Lisa! The Hershey Bar idea was courtesy Jan Tink and I found it here. I did do some thinking on my own and came up with the bag topper myself (well, not the idea to use the Top Note die, but the way I used it!) I used the SU! Color Spritzer Tool to make the spots of color - it kind of reminds me of the speckles on the Robin Egg candies - Yum! Which is of course, why I used the "Yummy" SAB Stamp set! If you need me to list the ingredients, leave me a comment and I will - I'm kinda tired right now. I should be in bed! Thanks for looking!
Nite, nite!

Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge

So I decided that I am going to try and do the Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge each week to get my creative juices flowing! I have to start next week though because I still haven't quite figured out what my class projects are going to be this Sunday! If you want to play along too, go to this site. Check it out! It'll be fun!

Happy Bird-Day, Jay!

Okay, its been a few days, but here it is...finally! A friend of ours is nicknamed "Birdman" and it was his birthday, so I thought this stamp was perfect for him! I was able to use the Frosty Day DSP for something other than Christmas! I thought overall, the card turned out great! I love the layers and for fun I poked a piece of frayed twine through the Whisper White for the top of his birthday hat!
Ingredients:
Pun Fun stamp set; Pumpkin Pie CS; Chocolate Chip CS; Kiwi Kiss CS; and Whisper White Pumpkin Pie Classic Ink; Chocolate Chip Classic Ink and Kiwi Kiss Classic Ink; a little bit of Pacific Point and a whole lotta love! I also used the scallop edge punch, brads, and Stampin Dimensionsals!
Thanks for looking at my always evolving blog!!

SAB Polka Dot Punches

I got my SAB stuff a few weeks ago and I was really anxious to play with it! I looked on Splitcoaststampers for inspiration and I actually started out using SC215. I have never played along with any of the challenges because I am not quite sure yet how. I am just a "lurker" most of the time. I love looking at everyone's creativity. There are some awesome crafters out there! Check out some of my favorites on the right! The card is not exactly like it was supposed to be but the end result turned out nice, I thought. What do you think? So Saffron CS, Chocolate chip ink, the sentiment is from Dreams du Jour, Kraft taffeta ribbon and the new cordouroy buttons (love'em!) in Kraft. Oh, yeah and the Delicate Dots DSP! Thanks for loooking!

Thank Moo!!

I LOVE THIS CARD!! It is so cute! Our Bunco theme for February was barnyard animals. I immediately knew I would make cards as my gift, but my animal was supposed to be a pig and I couldn't find a stamp of a pig anywhere! So, I found this cute cow stamp at Michael's and my "Thank Moo" card idea took off! I used Kraft, Basic Black and Whisper White CS. Unfortunately, my SU! collection does not include little bitty letters yet so I got these at Michael's also along with the ribbon. I stamped the little letters on WW CS and punched the scallop circle in Basic Black. Don't you just love the little pink flower brad? It totally made the card! Totally!!

Wishes du Jour

Well...finally a new card to post!! I actually have a couple, I have just been lazy this last couple of weeks and by the time I get home from work, it's dark and I can't take photos without the sunlight! The colors for this card were inspired by some paisley napkins I saw at Target this morning. Although this card didn't turn out quite like I planned (do they ever?) I really like it! This one is for my Uncle Marvin in Kansas who just came out of the hospital. I didn't want it too girly and I think I succeeded. I stamped the butterfly from SU! Dreams du Jour in Not Quite Navy ink onto Vary Vanilla CS (if you look closely you can see that I inked the edges of the VV also) and I used the inkpad to "dye" my (non SU!) ribbon. The base of the card is Not Quite Navy CS with Pumpkin Pie and Old Olive cardstock behind the Very Vanilla. I threw in some retired DSP because I felt like I needed a pattern. I also got to try the Chit-Chat rub-ons I just got! I still have a hard time trying to design my own cards and layouts but I must be getting better because I am fall in love with each new card I make! I hope you like it!

Blue Valentine!

Well, since Hubby decided I was using too much Riding Hood Red, his Valentine card was made with Pacific Point and Baja Breeze! Of course, I used the Love You Much stamp set and the 3 heart punch! I was really surprised at how much I liked the end result. Hubby liked it too!! What do you think?

I finally made another card! I have spent so much time just organizing my stuff, I haven't made time to stamp! Well, my Mom's Birthday is tomorrow so of course I had to make a card! Here it is! I thought it turned out pretty good! Hubby thinks its time to change the color of my cards - too much red! Well, I am still waiting for my new stuff to get here! I hope it gets here soon! I need to make my project to get ready for my next class on February 22.

Sorry, the picture is kinda dark, but my ususal "photo shop" is out of commission right now! i'll post the new project as soon as I see the UPS man!!!
